Design Superheroes is a web design studio in Brighton & Hove, run by senior designer and developer Gary Simmons. Shopify stores, WordPress websites, branding and print, and UX/UI for apps, all designed and built by one person rather than an agency chain.

Featured work

• Freight HHG

  Freight HHG is an independent shop based in Lewes, East Sussex, selling homewares, clothing for men and women, and artisanal food. It has been designing products since 2014, and its own clothing collection is designed in-house and made in the UK, with the shop putting materials, process and provenance front and centre. The store runs on a bespoke Shopify theme built from scratch.

• Divertimenti

  Divertimenti has been a cookery shop since the 1960s, selling hand-selected cookware, knives, bakeware, tableware, electricals and coffee equipment. It is a specialist retailer with a deep range and a knowledgeable customer, which is a very different ecommerce problem from a small curated catalogue.

• Peggs & Son

  Peggs & Son opened in April 2000 on the edge of Brighton’s North Laine and has grown into one of the UK’s most respected independent menswear retailers, now trading from Duke Street in the heart of the city.

• Bondi Body

  Bondi Body was born out of frustration with outdated tools, inconsistent results, and a lack of innovation in hair removal and skin technology. Through years of working directly with skin, owner, Trish saw first-hand how it changes with age, hormones, environment, and lifestyle and recognised a clear gap between professional treatments and what was realistically available for use at home.

• Homeplace

  Shopify online store for an independent online emporium stocking an eclectic selection of vintage, mid century and retro homeware and interior design products. The website is responsive for mobile devices and even makes complex menus easy to use. Shopify’s responsive checkout means that shopping Homeplace’s gorgeous range of products is as easy on the train as it is at home.
